Is it safe to fit a tyre at the roadside?

It is, as long as the car is somewhere we can work safely. A hard shoulder on a fast dual carriageway needs the police or a recovery truck to move the car to safety first. A lay-by, side street, retail park or industrial estate is fine. Keep your hazards on and stand well away from traffic while you wait.
